15 Months - Week 4

Cate got her first haircut! We decided to bypass the chaos of going somewhere to get teh cut so we did it ourselves.

Cate was informed that she'll be moving up to the next class at Daycare.  Next week she'll start transitioning, spending few hours in the next class.  She'll be bringing a friend with her, so maybe it won't be so tough.
She started getting really rambunctious in the tub this week, wanting to stand up and crawl around.  She thought slipping and sliding around was really fun.
Cate and Daddy went to the park on Saturday since she hadn't played on her slide in a while.  She really wanted to run towards the nearby lake today, guess she can't wait for swimming lessons.

She enjoyed putting various toys on her head the rest of the day and found it hilarious.  (Daddy was laughing and she was moving so the pics are kinda blurry)

Cate and Daddy went over to the Browns' house on Sunday to play with friends and eat bbq.  One of the guests' little girl brought a toy stroller and doll.  Cate went right to it, picked up the doll by the hair, put it in the stroller, and started pushing.  Daddy was amazed that she knew what to do, but she needs some practice on her cart control.

Cate got to put on her bathing suit and play in the sprinkler.  She also liked watching the big kids run around and yell wildly then jump in the pool.

She got to eat broccoli, bbq chicken, brisket, and potato salad.  She really really really dug the potato salad, to the point of actually crying and throwing a tantrum for it, which everyone got a kick out of because would Cate would make the 'chomp' sound when eating it.

15 Months - Week 3

Cate and Daddy made a trip to Shreveport over the weekend to see Aunt Courtney get her degree from the University of Louisiana - Monroe!

Cate spent time at the Ability Air office to play with GrandCat (Cathy), AC² (Christie), and Kim.  She liked playing in a big air filter box.  They got KFC for lunch and Cate nearly ate the container of green beans herself.  Daddy is convinced she thinks vegetables are dessert and will ride that train until she figures it out.

Cate likes playing outside and had a good time running around with the neighbor's kids.  She unfortunately will still make a bee line straight for the road so everyone has to keep a close eye on her.

Cate and Daddy also got to go look at some classic cars with Pops (Bill).  Pops said Cate kept grabbing for this one particular old Caddy.  Hope this isn’t a sign…

While everyone wen to Monroe for the graduation, Cate spent the day Saturday with Aunt Jennifer and Uncle Justin. She also got to see Grandma Deborah. Unfortunately because of the rain, everyone had to play inside, but they had a good time. Justin would swing Cate around and she would laugh and giggle. They also enjoyed watching cartoons together.

GrandCat made French toast Sunday morning and Cate liked it a lot. Seemed like everyone got a chance to do Cate’s hair this weekend because she now likes to pull the clips out and give them back to you. It may be time for her first haircut.

On the way home, Cate and Daddy had to wait on a hazmat accident coming back Sunday. Yay, Houston drivers! But other than that it was a great week and weekend!

15 Months - Week 2

Meaux and Banta came to visit Cate last Thursday through today. While in town, everyone went to Gringo’s for dinner Friday and Cate consumed half a tortilla with nacho cheese sauce.  She also loves refried beans and Spanish rice.

Cate has finally outgrown her baby bath tub. She gets excited a lot and wants to stand up, but she’ll listen if you ask her to sit down. Still very fascinated with water. She will kick her legs back and forth or wave her hands back and forth in the water and it splashes water everywhere.

Cate has learned how to pull her hair clips out faster now.  So most of the time she runs around at home with the "hair all over the place frat boy look." May be getting close to time for her first hair cut!

She is still eating very well all the time, hope it stays this way. She ate a little bit of everything Sunday night: roast, corn, peas, and her favorite, mashed potatoes.

Daddy catches her saying 'Hi' a lot, but doesn't think she knows the meaning yet, just fun to say.

She can’t quite run yet She falls down when moving fast, but she’s getting close.

15 Months - Week 1

Cate had her first Bronco ride with Daddy on Friday! Looks like she liked it!

Cate spent Mother's Day weekend with me. We went shopping Saturday morning and got her a "big girl" chair for my truck, a new outfit, and a pair of shoes. Typical girl stuff! She apparently liked her new shoes...

After Cate's nap for the day, we headed to the Bayou Wildlife Park to see the animals. We got a couple buckets of food and rode the tram to see all kinds of animals. There were animals from Africa, India, Asia, Australia, and North and South America. Cate was especially interested in all the flying birds overhead. She would point and stare at them. Cate wasn't too sure what to think about all the animals. She checked them all out and thankfully never freaked.

She saw others taking food out of their buckets to throw over the railings and she began doing it too. Her distance was not like everyone else, her food only just made it over the railing and never to the animals.

After our tram ride, we ate lunch. She wanted to eat her Cheerios like the animals ate. Too funny!

After lunch, we went into the petting zoo area and Cate pet a few of the little goats.

The rest of the day was spent inside. Cate 'cooked' her magnet letters in a pot, played on her laptop, danced. She was a lot more squirmy. She wanted to check out everything and barely sat still to eat the whole weekend. She still listens very well for a 15 month old. If you tell her 'that's not yours' she stops and moves on to somethings else. She ate very well too. She had eggs and potatoes for breakfast Saturday, peas and yogurt for lunch, lasagna for dinner. She helped me eat pancakes Sunday morning for breakfast before packing up to head home.

She had her first spaghetti too. She liked eating and playing with the noodles.

Cate like to help and hand people things. She smiles really big when she hears "thank you". She knows she helped and it makes her very happy. :)

14 Months - Week 4 pt. 2

Cate had a rough week at daycare since she was snotty and coughing some.  Allergies have been bad the last few weeks.

She will give high fives now, but is still much more inclined to give the down-low version.

Cate had a few visitors over the weekend. Aunt Jennifer and Uncle Justin came down for Jennifer's birthday. Here is Cate and Justin playing the drums. :)

Cate and Daddy rock out like Gene Simmons now in the truck.

We made black eyed peas and yellow rice on Sat. and burritos and Spanish rice on Sun and she ate everything.  She’s an awesome eater, but sure the pickiness is coming…

She was really fussy yesterday, think her back teeth are still bothering her real bad, be glad when they all break through. Due to the teething, she has a bad spot under her bottom lip where the drool has settled and she has now started chewing on it.

Put on swimming diaper for the first time on Sunday and Daddy figured out the only way a one-piece bathing suit can go on.

Setup the sprinkler in the backyard and she made the gasping noise every time it rained down on her, but she wasn’t scared.  Daddy picked her up and ran through it a lot and she thought that was fun.  She also would stand by it and put her hand in the streams, but only caught a direct spray in the face once, but didn’t cry! Not as afraid of the grass much anymore and will happily run everywhere and explore all of the yard.

Wanted to climb and play on her slide, but it was a little too slippery.
