13 Months - Week 4

This week was a big week for Cate. She said her first word(s)!! It was very surprising what her first word was. It was something we haven't even been working with her on. Daddy kept saying "oh, boy!" to her and she repeated it! "Oh, boy!" She would say it and then start laughing, then say it again! She even went to bed that night saying it over and over again!

Cate has been playing more with her push toys. She has become so much more comfortable walking around.

She has really enjoyed going to the park and playing on the slide. She has really mastered crawling back up the slide too.

13 Months - Week 3

I finally got all of Cate's artwork from rodeo week at school.

We've been going out for more walks lately since the time change. She has discovered sunglasses and likes to take yours from you and try and put them on herself.

Cate has also learned shaking her head 'no.' She did this to Daddy first on Saturday when asked if she wanted anything else to eat. The on Sunday she told me 'no' when I asked if she wanted to play with her ball.

While out on a walk Sunday, we stopped at a little playground for Cate to get out and run around. We decided to try out the slide and see if Cate would go down it. She loved it! and even started climbing back up. Daddy said she looked like a 2 year old at least climbing up the slide all by herself!

Cate has also figured out one of her push toys. Her Uncle/Cousin Ben got her a corn popper push toy for Christmas and she had been pushing it around all over. Daddy took a video, but I forgot to pull it off the camera. I'll update and post soon!

13 Months - Week 2

We had a late, late night earlier last week. Cate has been cutting in molars. She had a few rough nights getting to sleep and one night of not wanting to stay asleep. We eventually had to just let her cry and soothe herself back to sleep. We tried to help her at first, but quickly realized there wasn't anything we could do.
Last week was rodeo week at school. I don't have any pictures of any of the events since they were all during the day. They had farm animals (which I was told she loved), a wagon ride, a hoe-down (which she also loved dancing and the music), and a 'pony' ride parade (stick ponies). It was a fun week at school!

Cate didn't go to school on Friday. She spent the day and the remaining weekend with GrandCat and Meaux. They came to watch Cate for the weekend while Mommy and Daddy ran away. They all greatly enjoyed each others company!

13 Months - Week 1

Cate has some molars coming in now. She has two top ones already cutting through! I believe she's working on a couple on the bottom too, hard to see yet though.
Cate started in her new class this week. Since she has started walking, it was time for her to graduate from the 'baby' room and move on to the 'toddler' room. She did pretty well adjusting. She did have a small freak out each day in the morning, but overall did really well. I think she caught a glimpse of one of the teachers from her old room each day and she missed it and wanted to go back. It'll be an adjustment, but she'll be fine.

The lead teacher in the 'baby' room made Cate a gift for her birthday, yes it was way late, but it was the thought that counts. She made a sequin strawberry on a white onesie, a green and red to-to and a matching headband. I need to get her in the outift and get some pictures. It is really cute!

Cate has gotten better at her sippy cup. The teachers in her new class have been offering it to her more. Today at lunch, she actually took it and drank from it instead of taking it and chewing on it. We should be moving away from the bottle sooner than later!

Cate had her re-scheduled 12 month doctor appointment on Friday. She checked out great. Then got 4 shots! She did cry this time, but did much better than I expected. Other than the shots, she was very happy and playful and giggly the whole time. Her doc kept commenting on how happy she is and how pretty she is.

Cate has become much more comfortable walking. She still has moments where she gets unbalanced, but she catches herself most of the time before falling down. She likes to pick things up in both hands and walk around with them. She thinks that's hilarious.

She has actually been in a very happy, giggly mood the last few days. She's been playing well, walking around, laughing at nothing and hardly fussed. I think she's getting a little more independent.
